Several inventors have contributed to Banyan's patent portfolio of 4 U.S. patent applications: Chief Clinical Programs Officer Ronald Hayes, Ph.D. is Director of the UF Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Studies and a Professor at the McKnight Brain Institute. Chief Scientific Officer Kevin Wang, Ph.D. is Director of the Center for Neuroprotemics and Biomarkers Research, Scientific Director of the Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Studies, and an Associate Professor at the McKnight Brain Institute. Chief Technology Officer Nancy Denslow, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. Senior Scientist Monika Oli, Ph.D completed her post-doctoral training at UF in Oral Biology and Neurobiology.
The UF Office of Technology Licensing helped Banyan recruit Gary Ascani as Chairman and CEO. Mr. Ascani has over 30 years of managerial and executive experience in the in vitro diagnostic products and biotherapeutics industries, in management and executive positions with Hyland Labs, Diamedix, Inc., and two biotechnology start-up companies, Monoclonal Antibodies, Inc. and Molecular Analysis, Inc.
Banyan has received more than $10 million in federal funding, including grants from the Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health.
