Blue Line Room
Stephen Antonakos

Internationally renowned artist Stephen Antonakos created "Blue Line Room" especially for the proportions and environment of the rotunda in UF's Harn Museum of Art.

Antonakos is one of the the world's most successful creators of public art. His major neon installations can be seen in airports, athletic arenas and other public buildings in more than three dozen cities in the United States, Europe and Asia.

"Blue Line Room" is a large, square exterior with a smaller circular interior. Attached to the outside and inside of the structure are neon tubes in various configurations and colors. The interior, painted blue, is bathed in blue light, punctuated by a square "altar" back-lit in red on the wall.

Gainesville's Joyner Construction Company built the project and made a substantial contribution to its development. The neon elements were fabricated and installed by Bee Dee Neon and Signs Inc. of Ocala.
